One of the most beautifully colored, flavorful and potent indica dominant strains, Granddaddy Purple (GDP) has won numbers awards since hitting the mainstream in 2003. Originating in California, this strain is a result of crossing Purple Urkle and Big Bud. These seeds will produce big-leafed, bush plants with tight node spacing and brilliantly purple flowers. Granddaddy Purple tastes and smells like sweet wine grapes and wild berries. This is a great medical strain for killing pain, easing nausea, inducing sleep and calming moderate to severe anxiety.

This was actually a great strain from a pretty decent breeder.
First off; 56 days is do-able, but the first lot i did, ran to 74 days; that resulted in the most couchlocking, sedating, and hunger inducing high, that was, at times crippling. However; one ran for around 8 weeks resulted in a softer load, that was as enjoyable, just less...couchlocking.
Scents ranged; some sickly sweet, some what id describe as a "mendecino" scent.
Theyre like wild-flowers, and do great with LST, HST, Scrog etc expect some huge colas. First time i did this; my temps were extremely low, which did result in alot of purple hues coming through; though the second lot were more greener. There is some stretching during flower, not an insane amount, but its definitely volumous; heavy defoliation in the 2nd/3rd week!
Bud-to-leaf on 1 pheno was abhorrent; but it wasnt wasted! 1 pheno did actually produce a really pleasing bud-to-leaf ratio
